Temple Of The Koneshwaram

Koneswaram Temple is a famous Hindu temple in Trincomalee. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is built on a high cliff called Swami Rock, near the Indian Ocean.

This temple has a long history. It is believed that the temple is more than 2000 years old. Many kings helped to build and protect it. The temple was destroyed by the Portuguese in 1622, but it was rebuilt later.

Many Hindu devotees visit this temple every year to pray and get blessings. It is very crowded during the festival of Maha Shivaratri.

Koneswaram Temple is also a beautiful place. From the top of the rock, people can see the sea and the beautiful view around it. It is an important religious and tourist place in Sri Lanka.
