Seethawaka Botanical Garden

Seethawaka Botanical Garden is a beautiful garden located in Thummodara near Avissawella in Sri Lanka.It is located ad near of our mother village .  It is also known as the Seethawaka Wet Zone Botanical Garden. This garden was opened to the public in 2014 and is managed by the Department of National Botanic Gardens.




The main purpose of Seethawaka Botanical Garden is to protect and study wet-zone plants of Sri Lanka. Many plants in this garden are rare, endangered, and native to the country. The garden helps to conserve plants that are disappearing because of deforestation and human activities.

The garden covers a large area and is surrounded by green hills and natural streams. It has well-designed walking paths, ponds, and a lake. Visitors can enjoy the calm and peaceful environment while walking through the garden. 


Seethawaka Botanical Garden has many special sections such as the fern garden, rose garden, medicinal plant garden, spice garden, orchid garden, and butterfly garden.
