Embekke Devalaya.

Embekke Devalaya is located in the village of Embekke in Udunuwara. It is a verry famous temple in the sri lanka. That was built during the time of King Vikramabahu III in the 14th century.

Embekke Devalaya is very famous for its beautiful wooden carvings. The temple has many wooden pillars and beams. There are more than 500 different carvings in that. These carvings show animals, birds, dancers, soldiers, and flowers. And some carvings show swans, lions, elephants, and traditional dancers. The wooden work is very detailed and shows the great talent of ancient Sri Lankan craftsmen.

The temple is dedicated to God Kataragama. It is an important religious place for Buddhists. Many people visit this temple to worship and to see the amazing carvings.
