It was established in 1951 to protect the airspace of Sri Lanka. The main duty of the Air Force is to defend the country from air threats and to support the army and navy. The Sri Lanka Air Force has different types of aircraft such as fighter jets, transport planes, and helicopters etc . These aircrafts helps to many tasks like carrying soldiers, delivering supplies, and protecting the country. The Air Force also plays a big role during natural disasters by providing rescue and relief services to people. The headquarters of the Air Force is located in Colombo.
